The hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis can be a complex challenge to decipher especially as those hormones change all the time. Patients present feeling “hormonal” with a variety of symptoms that range from PMS to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) all involving the hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA-S. This 6-week bootcamp will walk through the different sections of a DUTCH complete for a cycling female to understand the relationship between the androgens, estrogens, and progesterone and what to do when those key areas are imbalanced. Whether you’re new to female hormones or new to DUTCH testing, this course will help give you the foundation and confidence to properly support your patient’s ovarian hormones. Note: this bootcamp will not focus on menopausal women. That will be covered in a separate bootcamp.
Confidently order and understand the sex hormone pages for a DUTCH Complete as it relates to your patient.
Understand how the HPO system works and the stepwise pattern it takes to make (or not make) androgens, estrogens, and progesterone.
Identify imbalances in androgens, estrogens, and progesterone and how it relates to other systems in the body.
Become familiar with conventional methods of addressing hormones in the cycling female.
Learn a functional medicine approach to addressing androgens, estrogens and progesterone to be applied using the DUTCH Complete results

Protocols are often (but not always) discussed in our bootcamps. A core part of lifestyle medicine is treating the individual, having a “standard protocol” is not always the right approach but can often be a useful starting point for learning about a disease or condition. Both functional and conventional approaches will be covered such as supplements and medications commonly in use.
